Wow. I cannot believe school starts this coming Monday! Where exactly did this summer go?? Does anyone have an answer to that one? Personally, it has been a very roller-coaster like summer for me. I’ve had some great highs and equally hard lows, but I know I’m not alone in that. I sincerely hope it’s been a good summer for you!! We’ve definitely had a lot of nice weather here in Buffalo, NY to enjoy!

Happy August everyone!! We’ve reached the final few weeks before the fall semester begins…as if I have to remind you of that! I’m just about done with my internship. My official last day is August 18th. Working with the staff in the Cardiac Rehab unit of DeGraff Hospital has been such a great experience. I have been able to assist individuals with starting a new exercise program, witness numerous stress tests (the treadmill variety), and become much better at taking someone’s blood pressure! It really has been an eye-opening experience for me as well…and the patients have impacted me – they have such a new, fresh outlook on life and what is really important.

Happy Saturday everyone! Hope you’ve had a chance to enjoy the beautiful weather we’ve been having lately. Anyone go the Italian Fest this past weekend in North Buffalo? I was only there briefly on Sunday, but I got to experience the festival all weekend – my family and I live on one of the streets right off of Hertel Ave so the festivities were just a short walk away. I really don’t mind having the festival so close for the most part. Parking on the street is the biggest frustration. Overall I think it’s such a great event for Buffalo – local businesses get some exposure and people get to see all that Buffalo has to offer. There was a HUGE turnout this year.

Whoa! I have been totally slacking on my blogging duty! These summer days are just flying by. Forgive me if I’ve said this in a previous blog, but I feel as though the older I get the faster each day (month, year) seems to go! Sometimes I can’t even remember what I did each day – they seem to just blur together. Sitting here now I’m trying to recall what I’ve been up to for the past couple of weeks.

Wow – June 30th already? What an incredibly eventful month I’ve had. This past week alone has been very significant. As many of you may know, I finally headed to Rochester this past Thursday evening for an ablation procedure at Strong Memorial Hospital. The hope was that this procedure, which uses a special catheter to destroy problematic cells in the heart, would cure my heart arrhythmia. Going in, we didn’t know what would happen – if the procedure would be a success for me. Millions of questions and scenarios raced through my mind as I was prepped for surgery – anxious for answers.

What a beautiful summer day! I’m sitting here staring out the doors that lead to our front porch and feel that familiar itch to be outside enjoying the sunshine! We get so few incredibly gorgeous summer days here in Buffalo – personally I feel the need to soak up as much as I can! Before I head outside, I wanted to take a minute to update you on how my internship at DeGraff Hospital has been going.

Hi everyone! How is the month of June treating you so far? OK, so I realize we’re only a week or so in, but a lot can happen in that time. I’ve been enjoying the break from homework. Spending time outdoors and with friends/family is always enjoyable to me. A few events this month hold a special significance in my life. My sister is turning 21 this year, which is so weird to me! It will be fun to celebrate with her. The day after her birthday, I will be going in for my heart procedure at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.

It’s weird. I’m sitting here, my son is napping, and I don’t know what to do with myself!! The transition from chaotic semester to more-relaxed summer is one that I look forward to and welcome with open arms and yet….I find myself unsure of what to do! I’m trying to really take this time for myself though. With all that’s been going on (school, my heart situation, etc.) I need a recovery period of sorts.

And that’s it! The semester is complete. I’m sitting here at home wondering what to do with myself now that I don’t have to study for a while. OK, so that’s not entirely true…my son keeps me plenty busy, but at least I have a break from the school stuff until the fall.

Happy May 5th! I apologize for being so non-exsistent lately when it comes to blogging. I’ve had a lot on my plate, both with school and in my personal life (which I’m sure everyone can relate to at this point in the semester!). I FINALLY got to go to the doctor today to talk about the event that happened almost a month ago (see ‘ER’ blog).
