With the season fast approaching I have been crazy busy in preparing for everything from sponsors, volunteers, tickets, game-day program and everything in between. This has been a great experience for me, the Flash has given me so many projects to work on.

Last week was a busy but fun week. I started off the week working on a bunch of Buffalo Flash projects in preparation for the upcoming season that starts in May. The closer we get to the first game and the closer I get to summer/warm weather, the more I excited I get for the season. It will be interesting to see how the several months of preparation will come together.

Last night I was playing a bit of catch up at work, but it was not too bad. I had a meeting with the president of the Buffalo Flash to see where we stood and to see what we need to direct most of our time on in preparation of upcoming season. I didn’t have class this week which was nice, however, I had a bunch of school work to do for this upcoming week. My school work included several one page papers, a couple longer papers, and watching an ESPN 30 on 30 on the USFL so we could discuss how leagues are financially organized. Therefore, on my day off from the Buffalo Flash on Wednesday, I went to the Canisius library to get most of my work done so I did not have to worry about it later.

Last week was great since I was able to go home for the Easter holiday weekend. It was so nice to see the family again. I even went to the Hershey Bears (AHL Hockey team) game with my father and brother. The Hershey Bears beat the Syracuse Crunch — being from Hershey it was really cool to see the Bears play since I have not seen them play in ages. It was also neat to see how they run things at their games compared to the Sabres.

Even though it’s March Madness for basketball fans, myself included, this is also a crazy time for me. Since I got back from Phoenix last week, I took part in helping with the Golden Gloves (amateur boxing tournament) that took place Saturday in downtown Buffalo. Meanwhile that Friday and Saturday, the NCAA Basketball Tournament was taking place in Buffalo as well. The Golden Gloves was a class project that we were working on promoting, selling program ads, and helping run the tournament in general. It was pretty successful and a good learning experience.

So my trip to Phoenix, AZ with my graduate program was unreal. We left Buffalo on 3/10 and arrived at Phoenix at 5:45pm (two hour difference, but because they do not take part in Daylight Saving Time, after last Sunday it was a three hour difference). That night we got a suite at the Canucks vs. Coyotes game. It was a different crowd than I was used to seeing at a Sabres game, however it was a good game that went to a shootout where the Coyotes prevailed.

Got into Phoenix, AZ on Wednesday with my grad program. I can’t express enough how awesome this trip has been so far. Unfortunately because we are constantly on the move with various activities, I cannot at this time give you a play-by-play of our trip. When I get back I’ll be sure to update y’all [...]

Last week was busy as usual, however this week I had class and work with the Sabres on Wednesday and Friday. Sunday before the week started though I went down to Winterfest in downtown Buffalo. Buffalo does do a good job having events in the Buffalo area. They put snow on the off ramp of the Skyway so people could sled and had broom hockey as well as other activities. It was really neat to see; I was glad I went downtown to check it out. I even went to watch some high school hockey that took place inside HSBC Arena.

After a trip to Ithaca this past weekend to catch up with friends and attend Chili-fest, this week has been pretty low key. At work I have just been working on settling deals with sponsors for the Buffalo Flash and finishing up our ticket designs. Since the Flash is going to have an official sponsor for each home game, with Supercuts being the official sponsor for our home opener May 26th, I been communicating with them for a logo to put on the front of our tickets as well as putting together some ad for the back of the tickets.

This week was not as busy as I anticipated.
Our grad program won our basketball game on Wednesday, so that was a good sign for the rest of the week. I have work with the Buffalo Flash on Thursday where I worked on setting up ball boys/girls for our games as well as setting up group ticket sales.
