I hope everyone’s first week goes/went smoothly! I’m just so excited to be back in school! Some of you are probably thinking, “Geez, she just ended her summer classes how could she already be that excited for the start of school?” But just walking on campus this week is a total different experience than over the summer. The whole campus is back!

My last weekend home was a success. I love being able to go home and visit with old friends. During the summer in Elmira, NY it still seems that everyone continues to go home whenever they can to see one another in my home town, as we did when we were in our undergrad studies. I am very fortunate to have wonderfully close friends.

My family reunion went extremely well! As odd as it may seem, because I see myself as a very personable person, my family and I aren’t the greatest at keeping in touch with one another. This was the first time in my adulthood that I have been around family other than my immediate members! I met cousins I never even met before this weekend! It was incredible! My cousins and I vowed that we would stay in touch and never let this amount of time go by again without seeing one another! I learned that I have an amazing family and can’t wait until next year’s reunion, if that is the next time I will see everyone. It was just great to see where everyone is in their lives and the goals my cousins have for their lives.

Home sweet home! I am back from my adventures to New York City, safe and sound! This weekend consisted of fantastic travels. It was the most non-touristy trip I’ve ever taken to the city. My friend that we stayed with lives in Astoria, Queens and is from Manhattan. We stayed in those two burros for the most part.

This past weekend was another fun summer weekend! As I mentioned in my previous blog, I went to the King’s of Leon concert at Darien Lake. It was so much fun! I’ve never been to an event quite like this before! The beginning reminded me of a Buffalo Bills game, where everyone hangs out with one another in the parking area before the game excited for the upcoming event.

This weekend was the absolute perfect weekend! I had such a good time with my boyfriend’s family staying with us. As I said before it was his and his father’s birthday weekend, so his family and extended family all came to Buffalo. We went to Niagara Falls on Saturday evening and went on the Maid of the Mist. All of the times I have been to the Falls, I have never rode the Maid of the Mist! It was amazing! We also stayed until after dark and saw the Falls at night, which was nice because they shine multi-colored lights through the falls

My brother’s birthday went well! His favorite food is pizza so we went out for Italian food where they serve brick oven pizza. I wish I stuck with the pizza though. I tried something new and did not enjoy it as much as I would have liked to. The overall meal was great because I was surrounded by my family. After dinner we all went to go see the new movie “Inception” at the IMAX.

This past weekend in Boston, MA was incredible! We all had a fantastic time! We got in bright and early on Friday and spent the day walking about Boston, discovering the city. We made it a point to stop at their most famous clam chowder restaurant and first restaurant built in Boston to try their chowder, The Union Oyster House. There is a seat dedicated to John F. Kennedy and his family, as it is said that he used to come there every morning to read the paper.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Fourth of July weekend! My family and I sure did. We cooked out at my father’s house and then watched the fireworks together. I also attended the Bisons minor league baseball game the previous day, which was also a good time. The Buffalo Bisons unfortunately lost the game 1-0, but the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra’s concert after the game was beautiful and the firework show was astonishing.

Aaaahhhhh, good ‘ole rest and relaxation! This past week has been worth all of the craziness of my first summer session, remembering how valuable free time is. With no classes or class work my responsibilities were just about cut in half! I took the time to sit around my apartment and do just about nothing. I did start to read my first book of the summer!
