By Shawn | June 29, 2008

During the summer many New Yorkers head out of town for the supposed calmness and relaxed notion of reality present in locales such as the Hamptons and the Jersey Shore.  No discredit to these summer wonderlands, but summer weekends spent in the city can be just as rewarding and exciting as those spent at the [...]

First week in NYC

By Shawn | June 5, 2008

My first week as a newly christened New Yorker has almost come to an end. I can’t believe tomorrow is already Friday…this week has flown by. I love my internship. Everyone at my office has been incredibly helpful, accommodating, and nice. Moreover, the project I have been assigned to is relevant to what I’ll be studying in my grad school program, is intellectually fascinating, and will eventually help people.Read more …

Start Spreading the News…

By Shawn | June 1, 2008

Yesterday New York City welcomed me with a water salute. As I emerged from the subway station on the Upper East Side (UES) I suddenly realized that a downpour had overtaken the island. I didn’t care though. All I felt was happiness as I am now a full-fledged resident of the greatest city in the world. Read more …

Leaving Buffalo

By Shawn | May 28, 2008

Seeing as I frequented Buffalo as a youngster, the city has always held a special place in my mind and heart. What’s different and special about Buffalo, in my mind at least, is that it is the town where I really grew up. We each are raised in certain locales, but each of us matures and develops into an adult in a particular town, and Buffalo is where I really came into myself, as I’m sure is the case for many Canisius grads. Leadership Banquet

By Joel | May 15, 2008

joelweb.jpgIt is very encouraging to be recognized for doing what you love and what you are passionate about. It is nice to have other people, other than your mother, who appreciate what you do and realize the importance of all your efforts. I am talking about the Annual Leadership Banquet that CPLD sponsors. I was given the International Student of the Year Award for 2008 for organizing the food and program committees during International Fest. What an exciting time! Thank you so much Ms. Esther, Faith, and Ms. Sharon! :-) Read more …

Congratulations Class of 2008

By Joel | May 15, 2008

The thought that I would probably never see my senior friends again, well not at least for a long time, didn’t really hit me until the second to the last day of exam week, when a lot of students have already left campus. Isn’t that great? I’m a little late to realize that I guess.Read more …

Let’s Reminisce

By Joel | May 15, 2008

Other than the seniors, there are also the international students who also leave Canisius to go back to their home countries. After spending a semester or two in our fine institution by making it more diverse, they all pack their bags by the end of exams week and bid goodbye to Buffalo. Every semester there are a number of international students who grace our campus with their presence.Read more …
