From concerts to bat festivals and to simply fun things around the city, we have considerably done a lot in spite of our limited use of vehicles. We go to work and do other things either on bikes or by using public transportation. The former of course, entails some sweating and with this very hot weather I am happy and content to have just…CLICK HERE TO READ MORE…

I am not a weatherman but I have always thought that a cold front almost always means I have to wear long sleeves and turtlenecks and several layers of clothes, because, well, it’s cold. Even I, who come from the Philippines, understand it that way. But I guess that’s not always the connotation of a cold front since here in Austin, a week of mid-90 degree temperatures is considered just that. Seriously, I even saw a headline on a newspaper that says “Cold Front Hits Austin” or something…CLICK HERE TO READ MORE…

We have done a lot as a community already, going to the bank and the grocery stores, getting to know our neighborhood, visiting the different agencies we’ll be working with, and baptizing ourselves in the city’s natural gem called Barton Springs. It is no wonder why Austin keeps on being ranked as the number one place for young single adults to go because there are tons of free activities…CLICK HERE TO READ MORE…

I am actually blogging here from the George Bush Intercontinental Airport Terminal C. In case you want to come down, I’ll be here until 5. I got here at 11 this morning and will be waiting here until 5 for our shuttle to pick us up. So far, I haven’t seen any other volunteers in the area. I have been mostly to myself watching movies, listening to music and people watching. Being in a different environment just reminds me of how big the world is and how many places…CLICK HERE TO READ MORE…

In 5 days, 15 hours, and 30 minutes, I will look back to this summer and realize that it has been busy and good. I have given it my all. I have researched in the best caliber I know for my internship at Hodgson Russ. I wore my creative hat to complete the Joel & Joel Project and most of all I have made myself available for precious times spent with family and friends. I have been surrounded by several opportunities and a loving environment, all for which I am very grateful for. In 5 days, 15 hours, and 30 minutes, I hope to…CLICK HERE TO READ MORE…

One thing that particularly hit me with this group is their reconnecting with their roots here in Buffalo. They are proud to come from this place and in spite of their popularity they still choose to come to this city and perform. It would probably be easier and even more profitable for them to go elsewhere yet they choose to come back, they choose to be back. As much as I’d like to indulge myself by romanticizing and drawing more out of this gesture…CLICK HERE TO READ MORE…

I’m really looking forward to Texas and I know that in some way I’ll be back to the Queen City in the future. Because of this, I’ve just been packing July with a lot of things to do. Thanks to this summer project/bucket list, I have been more inspired to just go out there, have fun and just be…CLICK HERE TO READ MORE…

Life is more exciting when you look forward to everyday with a sense of eagerness to finish a task or work on something good. I’m not talking about work because for some that can be draining. I’m talking about living and enjoying life, enjoying the company of family and friends with a sense of fun and adventure. So here’s my list, just let me know if you have any suggestions. I can even do one with you if you like and if time and space allow…CLICK HERE TO READ MORE…

Cameras flash all around the graduates who are all dressed up in their sparkly clean neat-looking clothes. Some take videos to immortalize the crossing of their kids from 8th grade to 9th, while some watch in awe as to how little Susie and Tommy got to be so tall. But whatever they do to celebrate it, everyone is for sure proud of seeing someone graduate…CLICK HERE TO READ MORE…

Almost a month has passed now since that joyful occasion and I still have to let this “graduated feeling” sink in. I guess I can use a collegiate excuse of I-just-haven’t-had-the-time-to-do-it. From the Casa Program in El Salvador to Buffalo to Phoenix for my sister’s graduation then to my graduation and then back again to El Salvador for an immersion trip and then finally to a great job/internship position downtown…CLICK HERE TO READ MORE…
