I would also like to point out how much my college experience has revolved around food. Buffalo is great for it holds a wide variety of excellent restaurants. We have everything from classic Italian food at Chef’s and Cecelia’s to pub style cuisine at Cole’s and Laughlin’s to ritzy steakhouses… CLICK HERE TO READ MORE…

Another improvement implemented this semester was placing taps to fill water bottles on the water fountains around campus. Picture an upside down J with a lever on the back of the water fountains. This is a great idea for it makes filling water bottles a lot easier. It also helps one of our campus initiatives by encouraging students to go green… CLICK HERE TO READ MORE…

So during the last weekend in January I was able to deal at a casino…or as close as I ever will be to doing it. The Undergraduate Student Association, or student government here at Canisius, sponsored a Griffins After Dark and turned the Montante Cultural Center into a casino. (For those of you who don’t know, Griffins After Dark is programming that happens every… CLICK HERE TO READ MORE…

Classes so far are going well. The only one that I am worried about is the science class I am taking. The professor is very nice, but I just feel really out of my element. Normally I take classes in the humanities and social sciences, not the natural sciences, but I am up for a good challenge… CLICK HERE TO READ MORE…

The event I planned last semester was Christmas in the Quad. We held the annual tree lighting ceremony in the quad, sang karaoke, decorated Christmas cookies, took pictures with Santa, lassoed Rudolph, made Christmas cards, decorated gift bags, and hung out with friends. I was very happy with the huge number of… CLICK HERE TO READ MORE…

It included a 27” flatscreen TV, Wii, Mario Kart Wii, Wii Fit, sphere chair, microwave, refrigerator, DVD player, and a year’s subscription to Netflix. The second showcase was titled “The Best of Buffalo.” This included four Bills tickets, four tickets to Shea’s Preforming Arts Center, dinner for four at the Anchor Bar, Kan Jam (which was invented in Buffalo), a camera to document the evening, and I think… CLICK HERE TO READ MORE…

It was nice to be able to stay on campus and maintain the Canisius spirit even though everyone was at home for their summer vacations. When all of my friends started coming back to Buffalo, I thought, this is weird! Why are you on campus? Now I am more in the swing of things and “adjusted” to the fast-paced lifestyle of my college career which I have grown to greatly enjoy… CLICK HERE TO READ MORE…

On Wednesday my Introduction to English Studies professor released us from class early so that we could attend the Sigma Tau Delta induction ceremony. This is an international English honor society and the ceremony really touched me. Dr. Wolf was the faculty presenter and she discussed with tremendous passion what it means to be an English major. I especially enjoyed the part where she related the major to… CLICK HERE TO READ MORE…

Two of my friends also performed for Ignation Scholarship Day. While employing a theme of love, Megan and Alicia sung one solo each and then a duet together. I don’t think that words can describe the beautiful voices of my two favorite sopranos; and preforming the love songs in the gorgeous chapel… CLICK HERE TO READ MORE…

Both the Roswell Park Cancer Institute and the Communications Department at Canisius are sponsoring this event to pursue the goal of educating men about how to prevent testicular cancer. I have to give this team a lot of credit for informing people about this issue. Testicular cancer is one of the most preventable cancers that can be checked by simply taking the few minutes to examine for lumps. This is also an awkward cancer to talk about, so team keep up the good work!… CLICK HERE TO READ MORE…
