Congratulations Class of 2008

By Joel | May 15, 2008

The thought that I would probably never see my senior friends again, well not at least for a long time, didn’t really hit me until the second to the last day of exam week, when a lot of students have already left campus. Isn’t that great? I’m a little late to realize that I guess.

The reason I bring this up is because for the past two years that I have been in Canisius, I have become friends to a lot of seniors who I not only look up to but who have become good buddies who I can hang out with. I have to admit that there is this emotional feeling that overwhelms me when I realize that parting ways is inevitable. But then again, it is something that I am not sorry for but instead quite blessed that even for a short stint of time I was able to know and be friends with some wonderful people.

I have been talking to some of my senior friends lately and I have been trying to find out where they are going or what they are planning to do after college. I know that the future and the opportunities that await them are marvelous. And I believe that being a Canisius graduate really goes a long way. Some of them are going to law school, medical school or another institution to pursue their master’s degrees. I am really blessed to know these people who are very passionate in what they do and live their lives with a sense of purpose in being the men and women for others.

And so to all seniors, I’d just like to say, “Kudos!” Godspeed to all your endeavors and I pray that in the future our roads will cross again. And as you open another chapter in your lives, just remember that you always have a home in great old Canisius College. Congratulations Class of 2008! And go reach your dreams!
