English

This week for me has been surrounded with several English language events. On Tuesday I officially declared the English major and the writing minor. I know that some of you are reading this and thinking that I did this several months ago, but I finally submitted the paperwork with the proper signatures.
On Wednesday my Introduction to English Studies professor released us from class early so that we could attend the Sigma Tau Delta induction ceremony. This is an international English honor society and the ceremony really touched me. Dr. Wolf was the faculty presenter and she discussed with tremendous passion what it means to be an English major. I especially enjoyed the part where she related the major to Glee and the entire speech made me proud of my additional academic major. Then the inductees read a section of a literary work that inspired them; I found it interesting to listen to what the students chose. Their readings presented a lot of powerful literature almost in a rapid-fire sequence that provided a profound impact.
In between these events I have been working on several essays for both English and non-English classes. I guess that I just can’t get away from it, which in all actuality is a good thing.
