Orientation…?

By Mariel | August 23, 2011

Hey everyone! I am now writing this blog as an orientation leader for Canisius College.

I just started orientation training a few days ago and I am in love. I knew that I loved Canisius before, but I love it about a hundred times more now. Seeing and listening to all of the important people on campus speak about what they love and are changing and improving on the campus is just incredibly reassuring and gives me the amazing feeling of really being in the right place. I’m also loving meeting all of these incredible people! They’re all so full of Canisius spirit, love, and enthusiasm that it’s impossible to not be excited about the school. The freshmen are going to have so much fun with all of us next week.

I can feel myself changing from spending just even these few couple of days in training. I’m more outspoken, more willing to share and open up to people, and I’m realizing that I am allowed to be all that I can be. I don’t have to let people take the limelight and edge me out all the time, which is a really important lesson for me at least because I know that I do that a lot. I’m realizing that unless my own candle is lit to its fullest, I can’t light other peoples candles, and my goal for the orientation week is to light a candle or a flame under the new students so that they can realize their full potential and come to love Canisius as much as I do.

Well I don’t have time to write anymore unfortunately as I have to go back to training. All day, every day until orientation begins on Wednesday. If you’re a freshmen coming to Canisius, you’re going to have so much fun!!
